Red Velvet's latest single, "Cosmic," is an enchanting journey through sound and space, released as part of their new mini-album of the same name, which commemorates the girl group’s tenth anniversary. Dropped today (June 24), the album features five new songs, including ‘Sunflower’, ‘Last Drop’, ‘Love Arcade’, ‘Bubble’, and ‘Night Drive’.
The title track, "Cosmic," combines lush pop beats with funky, disco-influenced rhythms and ethereal synth sounds, creating a dreamy and otherworldly atmosphere. The lyrics explore themes of love and destiny, painting a vivid picture of a romance that transcends time and space: “Love is Cosmic / I’m riding on your rhythm / Through the solar system / Come with me / You and I, crossing the night / Cosmic love.” Each member’s unique vocal timbre shines through, adding depth and emotion to the track.
The accompanying music video elevates "Cosmic" further, drawing inspiration from the 2019 horror film "Midsommar." The clip follows the adventures of Red Velvet as they join a rural community, blending mystical elements with captivating choreography. This visual narrative perfectly complements the song's dreamy vibe, making it a visual and auditory treat.
“Thanks to [‘Cosmic’s] melodies and harmonies, that are as vast as the universe, you’ll be able to feel the coolness of a summer night rather than a hot summer day,” said member Seulgi in an interview with SM Entertainment. With "Cosmic," Red Velvet continues to showcase their versatility and artistic prowess, reinforcing their position as one of the leading forces in the K-pop industry.
